Harshal und Hariyali / Indien

We are financing the school education of Harshal and Hariyali in Udaipur/India In 2012 we met Meenu as her single mother on a trip to India and decided to enable her to send her two children Harshal (now 18 years old) and Hariyali (now 16 years old) to Maharana Mewar Public School in Udaipur. Since then we have been paying the school fees, the cost of school clothes and learning materials every year.

Harshal finished the 10th grade with very good results this summer 2020 and is now attending the 11th grade. In two years after successful exams he wants to study abroad if possible.

Hariyali has also finished the 8th grade with good results. She also wants to study later.

The corona pandemic affects both of them in their learning. It is true that Udaipur/Rajastan is not as badly affected by the high infection rates in India. But the school is still closed. A rudimentary online school operation is maintained via smartphone and LapTop. However, they attend private tutorials with a private teacher every day, where they have to go either by the family's scooter or by rickshaw across the city. Harshals favorite subject is physics, Hariyali likes English. Her mother, who usually earns her living with cooking classes and spice trade for and with tourists, has to fight hard to keep her family fed.

Both passed their school exams in 2022 with good results.

Harshal has thus passed a good high school exam. In the meantime, he is already in his second semester of computer science at a college in Pune/South India. He is also socially active and was recently elected vice-president of a Rotharian student organisation that helps fellow students in need.

Hariyali is now in Grade 9 and is majoring in Commercial as an elective.
