Handicraft vocational training Tecnologico Sayrinapay in Bolivia

Karoline Mayer cares for the poorest of the poor in South America with her foundations in Chile, Bolivia and Peru under the name Cristo vive. One of the projects she pursues is the "Formación Profesional en Oficios" in the village of Bella Vista 25 km from Cochabamba in Bolivia. At the Tecnológico Sayarinapaj and the Agricultural School, around 500 adolescents and young adults are studying as part of their two- to three-year practical vocational training. The support we are providing in 2021 will help finance the education of 6 students. Solid vocational training in the trades is a rarity in Bolivia. Yet it is one of the few opportunities for young people there to establish an economic existence for themselves and their own families. This is especially true for the rural population. Karoline Mayer cristovive.de/karoline-und-ihr-werk is working with admirable enthusiasm for the poor people in Bolivia, Chile and Peru.

These are few of the joung Bolivians, whom we support::

Clara (Social Worker)

Clara's family was in a lot of debt because of the pandemic and the Covid disease she went through, and they could no longer afford the monthly payments. Thanks to the school social worker and under the scholarship program, she was able to successfully continue her studies.

Andy (industrial mechanic)

Andy's family has very humble roots and his father's job is quite unstable, so there are months when they have no income at all and that is why they applied for the monthly scholarship, Andy wants to finish his education so he can help his family economically.

Nilda (educator)

Nilda's father suffered a serious accident when a tour bus overturned from the roadway. He fell on his legs, which were broken several times. Since the family had no health insurance, they had to spend all their savings and additionally borrow some from friends and their entire family. For this reason, Nilda was offered to participate in the scholarship program. A campaign was held to collect food for her family because her father is still bedridden to this day. Nilda's mother sells soft drinks to pay for the medication she needs and to finance her most necessary household expenses. This is why Nilda relies on the scholarship.

Maria Fernanda (agricultural technician)

María Fernanda is a student who is very focused on all her tasks. The critical economic situation in her family had initially led her to the conclusion that she should drop out of her education and leave. This would have deprived her of all career opportunities. But when she learned about the monthly scholarship program, she decided to apply for a place and thus be able to continue her studies. Studying despite not having money, often not even for her tickets, shows her positive attitude. Her family recently contracted Covid 19, which led to a significant increase in household expenses for medications.

Jhosep André (Industrial Mechanic)

Jhosep was abandoned by both parents when he was one year old. He was left only with the care of his maternal grandparents, who took responsibility for his upbringing and care. He has no financial support from his family. Sporadically, he works during the week to pay for the materials he uses during his internship. His grandparents have no income to pay for the family's living expenses.

José Ronald (Gastronomy Specialist)

Ronald lived with his mother and brothers. His father left them and started another family in Cochabamba. Ronald lives for rent in a multipurpose room in Vinto. However, the economic situation has hit him hard because he does not have a permanent job and has only worked sporadically due to the limited job opportunities. The pandemic effects are still continuing in the form of government restrictions on businesses and employment opportunities until 2021.   He does not otherwise receive financial assistance.

Kaina (industrial electrician)

Kaina lives with her mother and brother. Because of the physical violence her father inflicted on her mother and brother, they decided to report him and have him excluded from his family. Now the children depend economically only on their mother. The mother knits to cover the cost of food. But she does not have the money to finance Kaina's studies. That is why Kaina applied for a scholarship at the Tecnológico. Knowing well her difficult situation and that of her family, we granted her a scholarship.
