Will the dream of a highly talented musician come true?

Avishag, daughter of a single mother from Ethiopia, began her musical education as a seven-year-old girl at the Hassadna Conservatory in Jerusalem. She was able to demonstrate her very great talent there at a very early age in numerous concert performances. In July 2018, she won 1st prize in the string orchestra category at the international Summa Cum Laude music festival in Vienna. After that, she graduated with great success from the Hassadna Conservatory in viola. After two years of civilian volunteer service and her marriage, she moved to Tsfat (Safod) in northern Israel, where she lives with her husband in a small old town apartment in the most modest of circumstances. She realized very quickly that she would not find sufficient joy in life without music. Meanwhile, her heart is attached to oriental-ethnic music, which is a great challenge for a viola player. But for the three-year study at Makamat Academy of Eastern Music, she needs enough money to pay the tuition fees. After long futile efforts, she was able to raise at least part of the necessary sum on a loan basis to be able to take at least some courses in the first semester. We are glad to have met her and now to be able to finance her education until her graduation with a scholarship.

In October 2021, Avishag gave birth to a baby girl. She is named Shahari-Ahava. Avishag is overjoyed as a young mother. With some effort, she has managed to combine her love for her viola with her young mother love and continue her studies at Maqamat Academy. Now she has successfully completed her education at Maqamat Music School in July 2023. In the process, she has not only matured into an excellent violinist during her studies, but has also taken a leading role in Maqamat's ensemble. She now composes her own music and performs it with great enthusiasm. See www.facebook.com/watch/live/ , there from approx. 02:30

Will Elisabeths dream to become a professional piano player come true?

Elisabeth is 19 years old and has been living with her parents in cramped conditions in Jerusalem together with her brother Noah. Her parents come from Ethiopia. Her father runs a small store in which he trades in Ethiopian spices. Due to the effects of the pandemic, the business is doing poorly. While Elisabeth was going to school, she discovered a piano in the school library. It captivated her. Whenever she could, she would go to the library and try to teach herself to play it. Her teacher brought the little girl, so obviously a piano enthusiast, to the attention of the Hassadna Conservatory. From then on began a fascinating story for a pianist-to-be, which eventually led to performances in notable concerts and participation in several high-level master classes for Elisabeth. Meanwhile, she is studying piano at the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance in addition to her military service. She receives lessons there from world-renowned pianist Oxana Yablonskaya. In the spring of 2021, we started supporting her financially with a scholarship. Now she has finished the academic year 2020/2021 with excellent grades. At the beginning of the new and probably last academic year, she decided to look for a shared apartment with a friend, and she found one. We have decided to go along with this courageous but necessary step into further independence and, in addition to the tuition fees, we are financing the rent and ancillary rental costs incurred for her. We are convinced that she will inspire many more hearts with her piano playing.

In the summer of 2022, we were able to help Elisabeth take part in a master's course for piano at the Oberstdorf Music Days with Prof. Konrad Elser. We used her visit to Germany as an opportunity for a first concert event at the headquarters of our foundation. The event was a great success. In the meantime, Elisabeth is continuing her studies at the Academy for Music in Dance in Jerusalem and, thanks to our support, will take part in the international Tel-Hai Master Courses in Israel from 31 July to 18 August 2023.
